Academy of Maritime Education and Training (AMET) is the first deemed to be University in Maritime Education, recognized by the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India under de novo category. AMET is a pioneering University with membership in International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU), Japan. AMET is ranked fifth among the Maritime Universities of World in PIMET (Performance Indicators in Maritime Education and Training) Ranking of the IAMU. AMET has been accredited with "Grade A (II Cycle)" by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The Directorate General of Shipping (DGS), Government of India has awarded Grade A1 (Outstanding) through Comprehensive Inspection Programme (CIP) for the past five consecutive years.
