Qualifying in CET is Mandatory for DGS Programmes

CET (Common Entrance Test) is a national-level entrance exam conducted by Directorate General of Shipping for admission to undergraduate programs in the maritime sector. Qualification in exam is a gateway to pursue B.E Marine Engineering (4 Years), B.Sc Nautical Science (3Years) and Diploma in Nautical Science (1 Year).

Eligibility

  • Candidates must have completed 10+2 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as mandatory subjects, securing at least 60% aggregate marks and 50% in English.
  • Age Limit: Candidates should be between 17 to 25 years (with relaxation for reserved categories as per government norms).
  • Medical Fitness: Candidates must meet the medical and physical fitness standards as per DGS norms.

Exam Date: The CET 2025 is expected to be conducted in May 2025. The official notification and application process are likely to begin in March 2025.

Exam Pattern & Weightage: The Online CET 2025 exam consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) covering the following subjects with their respective weightage and conducted in Online Mode. Duration 3 Hours.

  • Physics: 50 marks
  • Chemistry: 25 marks
  • Mathematics: 50 marks
  • English: 25 marks
  • General Aptitude: 25 marks
  • General Awareness: 25 marks

Total 200 Marks (0.25 Marks for each wrong answer)

Indian Maritime University (IMU) is the nodal agency to conduct Online CET for DGS.
