Second Mate (FG)

Aims : This course covers part of the education and training required as per the Meta Manual and Training circulars issued by the DGS. The course aims to meet the standards of competence specified in section A-II/1 of the STCW convention as mentioned in 2010.

Objectives: The objectives of this course are to prepare a candidate to appear for the examinations of Second Mate for the issue of the Certificate of Competency as Second Mate of a Foreign going Ship.

  1. Course duration : 4 Months
  2. Eligibility : Pre sea training and Sea service as per Meta manual.

Approval : AMET received the approval to conduct the course vide Approval No.: TR/A/45/2010. Dt.19.10.2010

Course Commencement : The First batch commenced on 15th Dec 2010. Successive batches offered as per DGS Calendar

Chief Mate Phase - I and Chief Mate Phase - II

Aims : This course covers part of the education and training required under Regulation II/2 and aims to meet the standards of competence specified in Section A-II/2 of the STCW 2010.

Objectives : The objectives of this course are to prepare a candidate to appear for the examinations of Phase I and Phase II of the Certificate of Competency as Chief Mate of a Foreign going Ship.

Course Duration : 3 Months

Eligibility : Hold a certificate of competency as Second Mate of a foreign going ship (Officer in charge of a navigational watch on ships of 500 GT or more) issued by Government of India and have approved sea –going service for a period of not less than 9 months for Phase I and 18 months for Phase II.

Approval : AMET received the approval to conduct the course vide Approval No: TR/A/ 177/2012.Dt:14.11.2012.

Course Commencement : The First Batch Commenced on 17th Dec 2012. Successive batches to be offered every Three months as per DGS Calendar

Advanced Shipboard Management

Aims : The aims of this course are to prepare a student to appear for the examinations of Certificate of Competency as Master of a Foreign going Ship.

Objectives : The objectives of this course are to prepare a candidate to appear for the examinations of Certificate of Competency as Master F.G.

Course Duration : 6.5Weeks

Eligibility : Rule 15 (2) (i) & (ii) of M.S. (STCW) Rules 1998 and Section M-II/3 of META Manual Vol. I.

Approvals : AMET received the approval to conduct the course vide Approval No: TR/A/28/2012. Dt: 20.03.2012

Course Commencement : The First Batch Commenced on 2nd July 2012. Successive batches to be offered every alternate months as per DGS Calendar.

Ship Maneuvering Simulator & Bridge Team Works

Aims : This course covers the training recommended in the IMO Model Course 1.22 and fulfills the training requirement for Navigating officers at the Management Level, specified in Table A-II/2 of STCW Code 1995 and Appendix M-II/3B of META Manual Vol 2, concerning manoeuvring and handling a ship in various conditions and establishing good team work during Bridge Watchkeeping.

Objectives : The trainee who successfully completes this course will have gained experienced in handling ships under various conditions and will make a more effective contribution to the bridge team during ship manoeuvring in normal and emergency situations.

Course duration : 5 days

Eligibility : The trainee should be in possession of Chief Mate (F.G.) Certificate of Competency or Mate (H.T.) Certificate of Competency and sea-service of at least 8 months as a certified watch keeping officer.
