About The University

The Academy of Maritime Education and Training (AMET) was established in the year 1993 at Chennai and elevated as a Deemed to be University during 2007. AMET is India's first Maritime University for maritime-related education, training, and research. During these three decades of journey, AMET has become a Global Maritime Knowledge Hub which is suitably recognized by both National and International Authorities. AMET is ranked as one among the TOP 3 Maritime Universities of the World in the PIMET ranking by the International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU). The Directorate General of Shipping (DGS), Ministry of Shipping, Government of India has accredited AMET with Grade A1 (Outstanding) for the past five consecutive terms through its Comprehensive Inspection Programme. AMET serves as an ocean of knowledge for over 5000 students pursuing Programmes ranging from Undergraduate to Doctoral programs through 9 Faculty and many centers for marine and marine-related activities. In addition, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) of India have accredited AMET with ‘A’ Grade and the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) has accredited selected Engineering and Management Programmes. AMET is also ranked high both in ARIIA and NIRF Ranking by the Government of India. The University is recognized as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) Government of India. With specific MoUs from major shipping companies like AP Moller Maersk and V Ships, AMET is providing appointment orders along with admission to meritorious students. Around 28,000 of our passed-out graduates occupy exalted positions in Shipping Companies, globally and proudly sail all over the world spreading the message of the quality education imparted at AMET which made them occupy such coveted ranks in Shipping Companies in India and abroad. For over two decades, AMET is remaining the favorite destination for campus interviews by many shipping giants such as AP MOLLER MAERSK, GOODWOOD, NYK, SONANGOL, VSHIPS, WALLEMS, SHELL, CHEVRON, STENA and so goes a list of over 100 companies.

AMET has a very ambitious vision 2035 plan wherein it aims to be a one-stop solution for all marine-related activities happening around the world and has clearly charted out an action plan to gauge its growth towards its 2035 milestone. With a synergistic attitude prevailing among management, faculty, and student, AMET is all set to achieve and sustain a status par excellence.

AMET has extended its campus by establishing the Center of Excellence of Maersk at the AMET Knowledge Park, Thenpattinam. This strategic partnership further reinforces AMET's commitment in providing world-class education and training in the maritime sector by aligning with industry standards and preparing students for successful careers in the global maritime industry.

The theme for AMET Global Maritime Summit 2024, "Charting the Future of Maritime Excellence," emphasizes the importance of steering the maritime industry towards a sustainable, innovative and collaborative future. It highlights the critical need for sustainable shipping practices and strict adherence to environmental regulations which are essential for reducing the industry's carbon footprint and in protecting our oceans. The integration of technological innovations such as digital transformation, Artificial Intelligence, Block Chain and automation is expected to revolutionize maritime operations which will enhance efficiency, safety and decision-making processes.

Ensuring robust maritime security measures and strategies to combat piracy is vital for protecting maritime assets and maintaining safe operations. Furthermore the development of human capital through enhanced training programs, education and prioritizing seafarer well-being is crucial for preparing the workforce to meet future challenges. Advancements in ship design and engineering with a focus on next-generation vessels and the modernization of existing fleets will drive the industry towards rapid developments and thereby improves performance, safety and environmental compliance.

Call For Papers

Articles of Original contributions which are not already submitted or published elsewhere are invited from researchers, professionals, industrial delegates, academia and students on areas related to scope of the conference. Each article must be accompanied by an abstract and should be prepared as per IEEE template.

The article in MS-word format should be submitted to gms2024@ametuniv.ac.in

Publications

• All articles submitted for the conference will be screened for similarity and those with less than 10% similarity index only will undergo Review. Articles deemed unacceptable will be rejected.

• Submitted articles will be peer-reviewed by the competent reviewers. All registered articles will be published in the proceedings of the conference with ISBN. Extended articles will be published in the Scopus Indexed Journal.
