Dr. J. Ramachandran, was born in a traditionally valuable family from a village called Vazhuthavur in Villupuram District of Tamil Nadu India. His father Mr. Janakiraman, a socially connected school teacher and his mother Mrs. Saraswathi, a social worker, have raised Dr Ramachandran with traditional values and wisdom.

In 1993, he established the Academy of Maritime Education and Training (AMET), the first private maritime educational institute in India, in collaboration with prestigious UK institutions like Glasgow College of Nautical Studies and South Tyneside College. Under his visionary leadership, AMET has grown into a global knowledge hub for maritime education, producing over 22,000 maritime professionals and has achieved following credentials.

In 2008, Dr. Ramachandran founded the Saraswati Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS) in Hapur, Uttar Pradesh. SIMS, approved by the Medical Council of India, has over 550 students pursuing MBBS, 120 interns, and 29 PG seats. The institution is attached to an 800-bedded hospital providing exceptional medical services, recognized as the 'Best Medical College in Delhi-NCR' by Brands Academy in 2012.
