Capt K.Karthik is a “sailor by profession and a teacher by passion”.

He joined sea at the age of 21 after completing his Bachelor degree in physics. His 16 years of active sailing period gave him the advantage of working in crude carriers, product carrier, chemical carrier, general cargo ships and bulk carrier. He joined AMET University as a visiting faculty in the year 2007. Within a month he realized a fulfillment in his job and enrolled himself as permanent faculty with AMET University on 01st October 2007. Thereafter till date he had served under different capacities such as professor for HND and B.Sc Nautical Science program, Director – University Centre for international Relations, Dean- Post Sea and Ship simulator training. Currently, he is the Dean and Head of the Department of Nautical Science. Besides his academic interest, he has an athletic dimension to him. He is marathoner and a certified yoga practitioner. His passion to Yoga for human excellence has got him a role as the Director – Centre for yoga and Youth empowerment.
