B.Sc. Marine Pharmacology and Drug Development

Development of new drugs becomes in evitable as new diseases are being discovered and existing drugs are becoming inefficient. The Drug development is a multibillion dollar industry which is growing year by year. B.Tech., Marine Pharmacology and Drug Development is the study of therapeutically important compounds from marine and  other natural sources and also the study about the processes for developing new drugs from natural and synthetic compound leads.

This is a highly industry oriented Programme which would have direct placement opportunities. Both pharma and biophrama industries have a major market share in the global industries. The Programme is designed to meet the present and future needs of these two industries with more emphasis on industry internships in pharma and biopharma industries. Drug development is a fast growing field which includes drug formulations and evaluations, contract research, clinical trials and marketing of new drugs. Programme also provides emphasis on patent and marketing information.

The B.Sc. programme in Marine Pharmacology and drug development will provide unique and ready job opportunities in biopharma companies, contract research organizations, MNCs and R&D Units etc in positions like Biomedical scientist, Clinical research associate, Healthcare scientist, Pharmacologist, Research scientist, Team Leaders (biopharma), patent officers, toxicologists etc.


Eligibility Criteria

Qualification  

A Pass in Plus-two (12th Standard) or its equivalent, with minimum 50% Marks for OC and 45% Marks for others aggregate in Maths, Physics and Chemistry group and 50% marks in English from any recognized Board.

Not more than 25 years at the time of commencement of the Programme

Lateral Entry

B.Sc Degree in any Life Science/Chemistry or Diploma in Chemical Engineering with 60% Marks. Good Communication and Writing skills in English and basic knowledge of computer science are essential
